I just got this cable and its not working with my hard drive properly i cant use it on my laptop, so Mac users beware, this might not be the product for you.
Another great product from belkin. 3 feet is shorter than you think it will be.
At the beginning i cursed out Lacie for making pricey HDs with wobbly connection (i thought that was the problem, cable not connection well), until I thought, why not, lets try a different cable. Yes, cables aren't very exciting. I have an extremely old apple laptop (the titanium G4. I got a Lacie external and everything worked well for about a year, then my computer started having problems reading the external. HD. yes.).
I guess this is a unique situation where a regular consumer would experience the difference a good grade cable vs. and i think i'm at a rare case where i can truly say these cables make a difference. So i tried it out with the belkin cable that I use for another external for my Desktop, and guess what, it worked like a charm. and the HD failed on me a while ago. given that it's still a solid laptop in addition to the desktop i still have, i decided to get a firewire portable external and boot the laptop from the external HD. a cable that came free with the ex.
but hey, now i'm a believer.
Don't get ripped off by buying an over-priced cable. This one was priced right, and is high quality.
I have been very happy with them and have never had one fail. I appreciate that they are well made, and come with a lifetime guarantee.
So why would I pay more for Belkin cables. Well it all started when my younger brother who is employed in the tech industry told me that he always buys Belkin cables because they deliver better performance, have a lifetime guarantee, and are worth it.
Let's face it cables aren't very exciting. I cannot say that I have any qualitative data to prove this, but my subject evaluation indicates that I get better throughput with Belkin cables.
Now for my little brother to pay more for something, there has better be a very good reason. So I knew when he recommended them so highly, that he had done the research and had positive experiences with them.
I have been using Belkin cable since 1996, and recommend them with the total confidence that no one will ever come back to me and say that they were not satisfied with their purchase. In fact most still look like they are only a few weeks old.
